Folding is fun for me because not only do you help research cancer.. I think it's fun gaining points, even though I'm really bad at it.

Check out the links. They go to the US Patent Office. Just because it was found on SpyMac doesn't mean it's complete BS. Think first, post second.

i will be installing 31 3.6GHz P4 with HT next week
all will have 2 folding processes on them with 2 separate machine IDs
my little contribution. hopefully they are not too loud/hot or i may have to scale back. don't want the machines to die if the AC goes out. should make me #2 for the team output and hopefully give the team a little boost. small output by a large number of people is better in the long run though
As long as you have permission, then I say its a go. Welcome back and thank you. ;)
It's just very sad that the banner project failed. :(

Welcome to MacRumors! You're famous already!
haha yea I guess so!
It was neat being first to go in...for a second I was kinda worried because some of the people were complaing and acting foolish! But the Apple people made sure I was first!
I'm working on a video so I'll have that out in a second!

there are many folding teams, but none better than 3446! join in the fun.
installed f@h on anything that had a network plug and blinking lights here. was eyeing the pda....
been fun watching the numbers of the next two teams coming down bit by bit....
as i have said before, loud fans make computers go faster!
fold on james, fold on.

Do you have any pics of your closest attempt at an 8 lb turd?

that's my bad... when I setup the forum, I forgot to limit it to registered users. So, jef wasn't logged in and just typed his name in as an unregistered post.
it's fixed now.
the forum will remain open for registered users... I will probably limit it from non-logged in people.

Maybe Steve will make a major announcement at MWSF instead of after the show, as his practice of late, just to put us off guard! :)

I was walking past the Chanel shop in South Kensington last night and spotted that they've got two iMacs in their window showing various Chanel slidewhows
But the iMacs are silver rather than white - and have a Chanel logo on the 'chin' rather than the Apple logo. I'm assuming that they may have been colour-wared or just professionally sprayed since they look like the silver is 'supposed' to be there.
I'll try to get a picture when I next pass that way - but has anyone else spotted them in any other Chanel store?

Well some of my fellow keeners in the folding world may have know i work/help out at a school. I do ALOT of computer work there and I talked to the guy in charge. And he said we could do a test on a couple computers to see how much folding slows them down if any. :) So today I installed it on 2 Athlon 64s. And next time I go in, I will install it on another 20-30 P4s. And if he has no complaints with them I can install it on the rest of them. So that will be about 100 CPUs. CPU speed will average out at about 1.2 Ghz. Some faster some at 1 Ghz. But with any luck I will be able to catch up to dreadnought at mc68k. And of coarse help our team out of this slump. :o

We have discussed those methods before, and that doesn't help. The 5MB are for new WU's, Beta units if I'm correct. -advmethods wasn't for Tinkers (or not getting them). And G5's can handle Tinkers, G4 and G3's can too. It only takes a bit longer. I also see a big dent in my output with my G5.
I agree with Dreadnought on this. I have attempted these switches (possibly incorrectly) on all of my computers and see no effect.
I am not going to stop folding because of this, it just sucks that the tinkers favor the long pipelines so much. Yes, the G5's can handle Tinker cores, it is just that my 1.6 GHZ Pentium M is much faster then my G5 at folding Them. :(

I do believe that this roadmap could prove very accurate.
Those who have tried it have been able to get the 1.25GHz processors to 1.5GHz, and this from a G4 on 180nm manufacturing. A move to 130nm could easily yield 1.5GHz, and possibly more.
Now, if only we could see 1.5GHz G4s in January...

I like FireFox. Not enough to tempt me away from Safari, but if I was on Windows and stuck with IE, I'd jump ship for FF for sure!
Using FF on my Windows machine, perfect. On thing that I like in FF that Safari doesn't have are extensions, etc... (maybe Safari has it and I missed it). Also bookmarking in Safari isn't all that nice
