30 minutes Battery life anyone??
I don't really know anything about the French site's track record. Have they even been accurate in the past?

Does anyone expect to see updated specs before January? If so, why? I am wondering if Apple will slap more VRAM and a faster G3 into the 12" iBook before January. Seems it could happen within the next 2 months.

Yup, I was interviewed a few weeks ago.
Haha I guess that answers my question. Well, congrats on being featured on CNN, albeit the circumstances..:(

I would tend to agree with you jef. The only people I really know are Alphatech, King Cobra, and asurace/Durandal7. Now with large amounts of users hitting the much sought after '6502' status, I no longer feel the same sense of community that I did when I started posting (June/July of 2002).

Hate to say this, but Microsoft will be king of the spreadsheet applications for a long time.
Yeah, I love Excel! :)
But, I suppose Google's offering might be good for people who do "simple" things with spreadsheets. You can't beat free.

Whilst looking at Mac Minis with an educational discount, you could buy a Mac Mini for the same price as a PS3. That's just stupid.
In the end the decision is simply - A competent computer or Dreamcast 2?

The six axis support is really supposed to suck. You like wave it up and down to do a top spin, and side side, front forth something something.
If you want to play a tennis game with motion controls, just wait for a better one on the wii.
So i say the 360, cuz of online play, and it the same game.

Uhm. I never said it was at 3-4+GHz. I said it was rated at 3400+ on the AMD scale. Like Athlon XP 2600+, Athlon XP 2000+, etc.
If Dell -- the fastest growing PC manufactor -- wants to incorporate this 64-bit into the consumer side, they have to make sure that, one, Microsoft is willing to supply the software (not just on the cutting board), and, two, that they give up Intel contracts (which is quite a big pull). Once again, the three comapnies have to work together (which will cause conflict), as opposed to only two.
Uh. Microsoft already has the software. Why would three companies cause conflicts? Even two companies can cause conflicts (Apple & Motorola [was never AIM since 1998, so IBM is out of Apple & Motorola mess since 1998]). Besides, Dell would need little involvement from Microsoft, maybe a little bit customization of software, drivers, etc. Little involvement with AMD too. They just need the processor, documentation on processor, PCI, etc. (to design mobo), and more. I'm sure they work together more than I've impressed upon in this post.
If one thing Apple still hasn't learned, the freakin moral lesson of the Motorola screw up was: don't depend on one CPU supplier. Go with processors that *HAVE* competition. You don't see IBM PowerPC 970 based computers competing with Power Macs.
And why in the world does it have to be Dell. You know, HP and Compaq exist both of whom already have AMD based computers.
I see where you are going, and logically I tend to agree with you. It might be the case that AMD will come out/release the 64-bit chip, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they sell the chip to the consumer (maybe server) at great volume -- based in the market factor.
You fail to recognize that there is a 64bit Athlon based on Hammer. That's the *DESKTOP* one. Opteron, the server Hammer, is for, gasp, SERVERS.

If you want to get exceptional mathematical performance then why are you getting a micro computer???? I cannot out-type my computer and i cannot do mathematical functions fater than it, or even excel with all of its overhead.
BTW, my g4 is soooo slow at doing maths functions that i finished an assignment a whole 5mins ahead of a mate. In excel. these were some serious slowdown stuff, 10 cross-referenced, dependently linked, nested functions sheets. Now my mac only has 2 867s with 256ddr, his p4 2.53 with 512 couldnt beat me, WITH WIN95.
Now any more real world tests you would like????:D

The PS3 has one game to play. The Mac can do a million things! Get a mac. I'd wait another year till there is atleast 5 games to play before spending that much money

has just finished a series of speed tests from its readers. At least for today the homepage shows these tests. Looks like the DDR does have a speed advantage in some tests. Shows you that barefeets tests aren't conclusive after all. Intriguingly the Flat Panel iMac 800 Mhz is actually faster in these tests than the Powerbook G4 800 even though the G4 800 has an L3 cache the iMac does not. Just goes to show there are as many different ways to test speed as there are people out there testing, and no one way will yield a conclusive result.

I was talking with my ex tonight, and he told me that he has full blown AIDS. I feel so bad for him and want to do whatever I can to help him out, so I searched for a project like Folding@home and found FightAIDS@home. I want to ask anyone and everyone who can help to please do so to help find a cure for AIDS. I don't want to see him or countless others die because of this damn retrovirus. If you could spread the word, create a team, and setup your folding to do work only for FightAIDS@home that'd be great. I'm asking for the community support of the MacRumors forum. Thank you
I've put the link in my signature. Really please, I don't want to see my ex die. If you could get at least one other person to join that'd be great. Also we can create the macrumors team and show the world that the Mac community has a lot of support behind it.
EDIT: Post if you're going to join the project so I can see who's gonna support me and others with this.

Firefox still has a long way to go with their Bookmark management system. It was a real pain trying to organize bookmarks using their Manage Bookmarks window. For instance you can't organize bookmarks from the left pane, only from the right. Plus you can't re-order bookmarks directly from the personal toolbar.
Their RSS/Live bookmark feature is cool, but you can't aggregrate them into a single folder.
They have to work on the middle scroll button; one flick of the wheel and half a page scrolls by, there is no way to change the increments or is there?

That is, Dual 50Mhz.:eek:
Seriously, these rumors are almost bad as the Dual 1.6 Ghz powermacs. Although I have never sat down and used one, I have heard that the TiBook has some major heat issues. Putting a dual processor in it would only make the problem worse.
On the other hand, Apple is an amazing company and anything is possible.
On the third hand, that superdrive looks to be a perfect addition to the next round of PowerBooks.:cool:

We see a G5 Moto at MWSF 2003
And over the year it will be ....
iBook --> G4
iMac ---> G4
emac ---> G4
Powerbook ---> G5 (moto)
PowerMac ---> G5 (moto)
Servers (Xserve) ---> G5 (IBM)
Dont forgett the IBM chip will be not so cheap like a G4 !!
So it look for me like a good server chip
