I have heard this discussed before, and someone made a point about the Codec chip being designed to handle certain compressed data, but (as I recall) they said that it couldn't handle AAC.
I have an iPod and hope that it is just a firmware update, but something tells me that it will be more than that.

Personally, I don't need a lot of speed and power right now, but I'm really getting into multimedia stuff (mostly animated GIFs now, but that's just the beginning) and most people don't need that kind of power, 800Mhz should be enough for the avererage user but if you're going to be doing some serious multimedia work, then you need all the speed you can get and that's my issue.
Who do we have to blame for the lack in speed at the moment?
I never said that their strategy is flawed, after all, Apple's goal shouldn't be to defeat Intel or Microsoft, it should be the best and fastest at what they do and right now, they're not.
Photoshop will run faster on a top of the line PIV than a top of the line Mac.
Plus, 3Ghz looks a helluva lot faster than dual 1.25 Ghz no matter how little the difference in performance may be.
Like it or not, that's how the PC world thinks.

And that's where Apple is falling behind.
They have an OS that's at least 10 years ahead of anything else out there, top of the line multimedia apps for the consumer and pro user and well-integrated hardware and software, but they are falling behind in the speed department and that's going to hurt both their marketshare and their image and how a companies products look is what people first see when they're shopping around for a new computer and now Apple's don't look like the best deal out there.

Golf baby. Put a sensor on my Nike clubs, or Pings, etc, and have the nano record my swing, the angle, and help me improve my golf game. Now that is a good way to help the rest of us lazy people out who only run when the golf cart is rolling down the hill.

Congratulations! My friend just got interviewed (some kind of pre-interview, where they make sure he's eligible to work there...)

Thanks for all the help/comments/suggestions/what have you.
It's been quite useful. As I've been reading "the mac world seems to be tightly knit". I'll wait to see what develops by MWSF, if nothing new comes AT the MWSF, then whatever came out on Nov 5 should at least be at a lower price.
I'm still pretty worried about the enormous amounts of heat genereated by the PB, having never used one, I cannot say I've had experience with it, but from reading various threads on here, and then checking out the discussion boards at apple.com, I'm kinda worried. Maybe the new rev will fix that :confused:

I disagree with the comment put forth that the programmers are the ones that are breaking the law and the users aren't. Actually, it's the users who are.
Although, I'd asume the programmers also are users, so they too broke contract when they used it.
There might be something illegal about it's distribution, but I don't know enough about the law there.

That optimized build of Camino is replacing Safari as my main web browser. Thanks for putting those together oaklandbum.

Glad you all like it. I've been using the 2 April build for half the day and haven't noticed any problems with it, so it looks like most of the bugs in the last couple of days have been resolved.
