i hear some of your points scem 0,
but when os x really grows up with "enough" industry support...or until i stop hearing complaints because apple finally got it "right";
and when macs go 2 ghz;
then who will care if wintels go 3.5 ghz?
will speed be a major issue then?
or will we have to catch up with the wintel world, ghz for ghz? (which i doubt will be necessary once ALL computers are faster than the needs of people)

There is no real way of knowing unless you were to bug and spy on every single person who has anything to do with apple-at the workplace and at home. This means that it could be or it couldn't be. I find no reason for writing this post and anyone out there who thinks I make no sense-just tell me to stop.

I wonder what Mr. A would be? :D
if 601 is 5000 posts, my guess is that 7000 or 7500 posts is a 603 and 9000 or 10000 posts is a 604
perhaps 15000 would be G3, 20000 a G4, and G5 could be at 50,000 or 100,000 because we wouldn't want anybody to go past a G5 since there is nothing on the market yet ;)
...but i wonder what the breakdown is past a 601, or if 601 is the farthest that has been determined at 5000 posts?

Amend the suggestion -- take the drive out of the PC and take it to someone who has a suitable machine to hook it up to, to scavenge your data.
The iMac is a por candidate - no internall connection for a hard drive, no Firewire externally, and its USB is 1.1 so it;s deadly slow.

Why would the processor trigger it? It's the same processors as before except the 1.25s and I don't think they put out that much more heat.
I do think you will see hot swappable drives but not in the fassion one would think. When the next version of Firewire comes out I see internal drives eventually using it. So that will make them hot swappable.

300 is a fair price.
But after adding the cost of an HD-DVD player and Wi-Fi adaptor the PS3 seems good value after all.

Alright, so finally I went ahead and asked my friend's dad who is one of the top people at IBM Japan... and he said yeah they were providing the Power4 to Apple and they were negotiating a deal. I'm telling you, this is SOLID PROOF.

Funny you are talking about price drop when apple raised prices on all there models here in Holland from the 1st of October!
It was about a 4% increase across the board...
This does not help the "Dutch" people do the "Switch", I don't get it, why are we paing so much more for Mac's in Europe when PC prices are not that different with U.S. ones.

This might not be the right forum, but, this really surprised me.
I was watching the 1984 Superbowl ad, and can swear I saw an iPod on the girl's belt!
I haven't reached any conclusions yet, but that really looks like an iPod:

Now why do hackers have to go do this? they say they do it cuz the prices that cd's are is "unfair" and "overpriced". now i simply have to ask the question... if your a hacker.. more than likely you deal with computers. dont you think that your overpaid for you job? for a small simple example.. best buy geek squad.. overpriced.. they want 30+ dollars to install a stick of ram. the point is... the money is for the most part equally distributed to be able to pay these high prices. income is accomidated for the high prices of products. if u think it's bad over here.. go to japan and try and buy a medium fries on their "dollar menu" which in usd=$5. so back my main point... just pay the frick'n money, most ppl's income are accomidated for the increase cost. if you feel u cant afford a cd... that's what christmas or your birthday is for or even the radio. by the way... i'm not an "artist" either... im majoring in ECE myself so i'm not biased.

Unfortunately, our head of service just went on holiday for a couple of weeks which puts me in his shoes, ie. no one else for me to ask the specific details of the fix

do you really think it's fair to tell someone who produces more points than you that they don't have the right attitude?
Im just having fun and motivating. While i might not be producing as much as most people im just having fun while helping at a good cause out, so cut some slack. Besides every little bit helps the team and researches, and if you added all the little peoples points im sure it would add up :)

I like the 360 design myself. Vertically at least; IMO it looks like shat if its put horizontal.
I think it looks better horizontally. It might just be my entertainment setup, but it looks behemoth when it's vertical. But I prefer my Wii vertical. Horizontally it just looks wierd.

Face it. It's time the design industry stop being *****-footed troglodytes and realize that, yes, indeed, ID combined with OS X on a new PowerMac will increase your productivity.
And it's similar enough to Quark that one could EASILY adapt. Hell, I did it after using Quark for almost 6 years.
Now? I'm all for Quark dying a quick, albeit painful death.
Here's to apple "thinking different!"
Here here ID2!
Totally..... I used Quark for years before I got my mitts on Indesign...... Quark is just so early 90's...... :p :p

Mhmmmm...
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/03/20/hdmi-enabled-black-xbox-360-in-late-april-for-479/
Okay, assuming this isn't an April Fool's Joke (the price is quite awkward, but the article appears to be legit), I hope this means the Premium system gets a price drop. Price is a bigger hurdle for me. Then comes size (I have to figure out where to put this thing...), but I guess I just have to deal. It'd be cool if this means black X-Box's on the lower end models, but I doubt it. And it's very uncool the 120 GB hard drive will be available separately at $200 or under... Guess I'm sticking to iTunes for my media for a while longer.

It is the sort of thing I was thinking of. I hadn't realised the MIPS core had been tweaked that much, but I guess they've got the volume behind it to make it worth it.
I'd wager good beer that IBM won't go that route though (the catch is you've got to work out how to get the beer if I'm wrong:D ) It sounds like too much compilication for a more general purpose CPU than the hassle is probably worth.
Hopefully, we'll find out more details before the week is out. The memory bandwidth side of things is sounding on track though!
