What happened to all the deals?
We had the $$$ off the FP screens with a PM purchase- no update to the deal, price deduction or new product after the last day of the deal.
We had the print and save- ibook/ebook/imac purchase deal- no update to this deal or price drop, product update or other promo.
Check the savings is still around- I think it is more of a sales generator for OS X.
The two software (Adobe InDesign/MS Office) deals are still good deals- but Apple could have these regardless of hardware updates.
Does this mean Status quo until January for Hardware?
Well, things are pretty quiet- kind of similar to the End of January to April period this year when the Powermacs we updated and the finally new Powerbooks showed up.
What are your throughts?

I would have been doing something productive, but I had to reply to your comment.
Nice. :D
If I do find any stats about this, I'll post them here. In the meantime, we can speculate that we Mac users spend our time more productively and perhaps we waste our time more productively too.
There's nothing better than efficient time wasting according to 97% of all mad jews.

Think Hypertransport...
Sounds like AMD just announced the slip in it's timetable, so Hypertransport equiped PCs will be shipping Q1 2003.
I fully expect Apple to ship Hypertransport (or RapidI/O) systems at the same time (or before) as the rest of the market.
Apple's ability to ship standardized PC items 12-18 months (seems much later lately) after adoption by PC manufacturers proves my point.
Thus Apple should announce the machines in January with a 6-8 week ship time, usual snafus and delays should get the G5 machines into peoples hands on April 1, 2003.

It is referred to the HALO effect because HALO got a lot of people to buy the xbox because of the game itself. Therefore products that are entry products and produce synergy purchases are considered HALO effects.
I hope you don't really believe that's where it originated.

Research it some more? The subject line of the original post "Did anyone else notice this?" is rather ambiguous, and you wouldn't assume to find it there.

I'm playing it! :D
I actually was in the original beta for Uru Live when it was still an Ubisoft project back in mid-to-late 2003. When I heard it was being resurrected (and ported to Intel Macs), I got very excited, and actually got into the new beta as well. I'm enjoying it quite a lot, it's definitely quite cool for a Myst fan to be able to wander the caverns of D'ni, and the user community is very passionate (to the point of framing most discussions within public areas of the game as "in cavern," or role-playing as if the experience is real) and helpful (there are always people willing to help with the couple group puzzles or give you hints/assistance if you're stuck).

Amen. Although I think the Windows' scalability vs. Unix's scalability is a valid argument because reasons stated in my post above. It's true that there shouldn't be a reason that Windows cannot scale to as many processors, but as I've said... it's not worth it because it isn't Microsoft's market.

quick question for you ps3'ers. read the faq at stanford, but couldn't find an answer. can the F@H client be set to start automatically when the unit powers on (remote server room, no monitor/screen) or do you need to manually start the client from the menu?
There's an options menu under the f@h icon where you can set it to auto-start after a few different periods of delay, with the shortest one being 10 minutes. So if you powered it up and did nothing, it would start up in 10 minutes.

Don't be so literal. Both comments are not personal attacks on you. They are observations of charactistics that many people exhibit in these forums.
I like the fact people are driven to achieve better things, I'm sure this trait will help everyone do very well in the world of work. I just feel its also important to keep your feet on the ground and not to be too over the top.
By the way Shrek you're a few months older than myself so I was wondering if you've been to Uni and what you did? This is just me being curious given the different posts you make.

I bet it's pretty basic stuff. My apple store is quite small as well. It's at one of those outdoor mall things, and the classes that meet there seem really scrunched.

That it runs like a charm (I've used the terminal and gui versions, but have only used the gui on my g5), and that the F@H (http://folding.stanford.edu/) FAQ has some good info.
Check project summary (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html) to see details on the protein you're working on, including links to a description (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/allprojects#1162) (my current protein), which may mean nothing to most of us, but is handy to show friends when describing the lil' app running hidden on the computer.:D
Of course, one should also look at the linkity link in numerous sigs leading to the well written Macrumors Folding info page (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=21908).

I live in Japan and would love to MOD my Wii. The game selection here is so limited and the games that do exist are nothing I would want to play. Since release, Zelda and Wii Sports are th only decent games...
When I was back in Canada during XMas I was amazed to see such a nice selection of Wii games, I'd love to be able to play some of them on my JP Wii.

I wish it would start off as a still picture, and only start playing if I clicked it.
Exactly! That seems to make so much more sense.

Apple is not in the business of giving away printers. The printer was very much like a rebate on the computer. The major difference is that he received the printer immediately rather than 8 to weeks later as is usually the case with rebates. Since the OP returned the computer, he had no right to keep the printer.
Well, the printer had a mail-in rebate to make it free too, so I had to wait a few weeks for that check. I was actually surprised it came, since I had long since returned the iMac and was waiting to get the Mini. But Apple never asked for the printer, nor did it not send the refund. So the printer was free without the iMac.
Why is why I didn't get the second printer when asked. Because I felt bad about it. Which is why I started this thread. Okeedokee everybody? Clear enough?
