I'd think he's approaching a G3 by now, depending on how detailed the 60x series is and what the cutoffs are.

It's, erm, insania. The gist of it being that the whip-wielding vampire-vanquishing adventure into androgyny, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, is going to vanquish vampires and wield whips on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday (when else?). An 800 MS Point ($10) expenditure will net you both the original version of the game and another that boasts improved HD visuals and sound.

I was on a Celeron 566 overclocked to 876 peecee. Running Linux/Windows dualboot. Sold 6 months later because it was collecting dust after my iBook purchase.

Is there a public beta yet? I hate the flashy look with all the black, but do want to give it a try before passing judgement.
Follow the prompts here -- if you are not MSDN, you will need to request entry into the public beta program (there's a link on the page).

I started folding with the G5 home computer for several reasons. First, I leave my computer on most of the time and really like the idea that for pennies I can have an application working on something useful for other people. Since I work in...<gasp>...IT, I also like the idea that processor time there is serving some higher cause.
I also lost a family member to cancer, so there is some small motivation there to see if some cumulative work will help in the understanding of these diseases -- though mortality is part of living....
Another reason? To contribute to the MacRumors Team (http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=3446) effort and earn props for the team.

Please reread my post above. According to the www.cpuscorecard.com website, an iMac 800 MHz machine is comparable in performance to a 1.8Ghz P4 machine. And if you compare the cost of the iMac to a similarly equipped Dell 1.8Ghz P4 machine, the iMac is actually the cheaper of the two.
This was a real eye opener for me.

also, and it may just be that i am looking for it and forgot what it was actually like, but didn't the search box at the bottom next to the "Visit an apple retail store" popup usually have rounded corners?
AFAIK, it still does.

I think that little contraption is a great idea. We need a more mobile cheap digital tablet computer. That touch-typeing interface is genious. Now... if it was only made by Apple, it may be interesting... Samsung? lol they can't even make a decent mp3 player...:p

Maybe they painted a silver frame and stuck that to the front of the iMac? That does make more sense....
Nope... it looks like the silver was painted straight onto the normal white surface.
The lack of 'height' in the chin surprised me in the pictures - but it's definitely the right depth of screen to be the iMac. Although bear in mind that it's an older one since there ain't no iSight in it.

I don't like this, how is ITMS going to compete with this ? "Unlimited" number of songs that you can burn to CD and keep forever? I really hope RIAA is going to shut down this music renting crap ASAP!

The Pizza place? Does some of the best pizza and is always packed with Apple employees.Ugh. I hate BJ's. I've never had their pizza but I've tried a ton of their other dishes and their famous 'pizookie' which still isn't anything worth mentioning.
You can get decent priced pitchers, though. :p

Again, you're lying and have again, misinterpreted my posts.
"You suggsted we rally around some cause."
No, i suggested people contact Apple in some form, be it email, letter, fax or petition.
"You never quantified what that something was."
See above.
"Good point. You win."
It's not about winning you arrogant buffoon. Neither of us has "won" anything in this whole thread, i've been trying to point out to you time and time again, that the things we are arguing about are very similar, and yet you continue on a rampage of lies and misinterpretations.
You see you, Nipsy, make arguments for the sake of looking good to your "audience". You don't hope to achieve anything constructive by making an argument, other than looking good and padding your ego by using sarcasm and making the other person look as bad as you can. You fabricate points in your replies when the person your replying to has made no such point, and if you are as intelligent as you say you are, i can only assume that you are doing that on purpose.
An intellectual person will try to make constructive comments, and contribute to some kind of solution, you however, do not.
I agree with you on most of your points, Nipsy, as i have said many times ("Good points").
If you want a one man show, go on stage or become a politician. They fabricate lies and will do anything to come across as though they're making a good point, when they're not, too.

You won't see anything faster until mid 2004. You are dreaming if you think Apple will have the Power4 in the PowerMac in Jan. 2003. All you will see is a faster G4 that Motorola will call G5 clocking at best 1.6GHz, built w/ 130NM tech, with a 512 cache, and maybe at best a (real) 333 DDR front side bus. Not the overclocked crap Apple is pushing now. Motorola is too broke and losing too much money to make anything faster.
And the Power4 is incompatible with AltiVec based software. Developers won't spend millions to rewrite their software to run on the unproven Power4.
Peter Ok just to correct a few facts. Firstly RDRAM offers less bandwidth than DDR RAM. The only reason RDRAM shows as higher is because currently you can only buy it as a dual channel offering, which effectively doubles the bandwidth. The real bandwidth of RDRAM 1066 is only ~2.1 GB/s. Dual channel DDR RAM can reach 4.2 GB/s with DDR-266, 5.4GB/s with DDR-333 and 6.4 GB/s with DDR-400. Offerings already exist for dual-channel DDR-400 memory as well.
Second the MPX bus will never be a DDR bus. Not ever. Technically it's too much trouble and doing things which are technically troubling costs money, which Motorola by your own words can't afford to spend.
Motorola is already switching their G5s to on-chip memory controllers and RapidIO and assuming they were to release a next generation system for Apple they would do the same.
Third Apple does not sell overclocked systems. Anybody who says otherwise is simply ignorant.
Finally you are correct the POWER4 won't appear in Macs but you are wrong in that the POWER4 isn't an unproven technology.
Additionally IBM has already come on the record as stating they are developing a POWER4 derivative with a SIMD unit. It won't be altivec, which is Motorola's implementation of that instruction set, but Apple isn't planning on using anything in their future chips (at least for the near term) that doesn't retain altivec compatibility.

MotorStorm does something cool I noticed the other day. Anyone notice the two-tone paint jobs? As light reflects off the car at different angles it can show a completely different color. You can see this in the vehicle selection screen for some vehicles if you look straight down on them.
