Thanks a lot for the threadjacking, ftaok! Who's threadjacking???!!?!
I commented on the Apple/Moto collaboration that you suggested. I said it was a stupid idea for Motorola because they get very little benefit but share more of the cost burden. You stated that Motorola would give Apple their tech, and then market the phone for Apple. Answer me this, why would Moto want to do this? If they're making the phones and marketing the phones, shouldn't they get all the profit (minus a small royalty for using Apple brand name)?
It's called economics! "Duh!"

where might i get myself one of thee free domains
I never said free.. but that might have been assumed from my post. What I meant was that no one pays big bucks to domain squatters anymore.
However, you can get free domains through places like http://www.dyndns.com

What next?
what with microsoft buying out companies like iView and Lionhead Studios what will be next?
I think abobe might be on Microsoft's List. ...Innovation by acquisition. However, I would not worry about a Microsoft acquisition of Adobe. If you think that Windows Media created antitrust problems for the Redmond Monopoly, a Microsoft attempt to acquire Adobe would make those problems look like a missed deadline.

Hmm, looks like more pointless features, without any major improvements.

I tried it out and it doesn't work for me - I get some error about an SQL variable. I'll stick with Navicat for now I think.

I'll put in my two cents' worth....
The "revolving door" of new members made it a lot harder for people like me to want to post on as consistent a basis. I still use the site very frequently, to read the news articles, and on rare occasions I will read comments...but when you can get a couple hundred posts on a thread in such a short period of time, it feels like your own individual post doesn't matter as much and is less likely to be read.
The problem for me is that with so many members, there ought to be a little basic courtesy with regard to posting etiquette; specifically, I'd say that if you aren't adding anything to the thread that is well-thought-out, then you should keep it to yourself. The sheer volume of posts that are a couple lines long and contribute nothing to the discussion makes it so much harder to wade through the threads to find the "good" ones.

It's still pretty early in our development cycle, so I can't talk about specifics about the next version of Office:Mac yet. Watch Mactopia for all of our press releases and product announcements:

Back to what Wry Crooter was saying...Another problem with switching to indesign, other than printing, is work flow. Part of the reason why so many people in publishing (at least in magazines) are still using Quark is because of QPS and Copy desk. Until Adobe comes up with something that's as realiable (ha) as the system quark has there'll be no mass movement to switch. In fact the co. that I'm working for now, was a test subject. One which failed. Most large publishers would love to make the transition to indesign as Adobe offers site licensing, where Quark doesn't. To sum up Indesign is great if your designing at home or have a small staff. It's the better program. But if your trying to produce say a magazine, chances are you won't be using Indesign anytime soon

No, its only using ~100% of the one cpu. Should I just wait for my current w.u. to finish and then install the dual processor version of folding@home?
Check to see if there is two under the same name. Also why is it using 8_%? Should it not be using 50% or 100%?

Excel is NOT a "data processing application". It's a spreadsheet application. If you want data processing, get Access, FoxPro, or SQL Server, or some other database application (like Oracle).
I agree only to a certain extent. It has its uses when generating pivot table reports, which are derived from raw, unorganized data.

Cool! I've used the free WireTap utility for a while, and I've been very pleased with it.
Unfortunately, with the introduction of WireTap Pro, the free one is no longer available for download. At least I couldn't find a link to it.

Now sure, there might be workflow issues with magazine and large publishing but there is NO problem whatsoever with printing at commerical presses.
I don't know where this myth has arrived from, but it's just not true. I'm in po-dunky pittsburgh, pa and man, everyone has ID, most print shops have "ID Files accepted here"

Protein: p1155_L939_K12M_298K_DT_250ps_clones
Run: 46 (Clone 203, Gen 0)
Frames Completed: 0, Remaining: 400
Dynamic steps required: 5000000
This work unit was choking the PowerMac G4, which was doing one frame per hour. It would take the Mac seventeen days to finish the unit. How does a G4 user tell the Folding server to not send TINKER units to G4 CPUs? Waiting three weeks for a result, when an x86 system could have the unit done in a few days, is inefficient.
"Seventeen days? Hey, man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours. Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before, and they're gonna come in here and they're gonna come in here and they're gonna kill us!" -Private Hudson

Macs entering the enterprise market may be another halo effect for desktop macs. crossing fingers.
What exactly is HALO effect? Does that have anything to do with the game HALO or is it referring to a spreading "ring" par se?

I personally do a lot of rendering...Vector based specifically, and billing clients is an issue when it comes to architectural work.
A lot of clients view an architect as being overpaid anyways, so when they see a 100 hour bill they can get a little uneasy.
I pride myself on being able to produce the "best" & most completed set of drawings available, at the absolutely quickest time (ie, I draft like a bat out of hell, and do it accurately, though my spelling is atrocious)
often I find I must boot into 9 just to produce...however, for mid level drawing 10 is "ok" on a 450 G4, its all about simulation I'm sure (using classic)
once engsw.com releases Powercadd OSX native, I will be all over that...that should change my booting habits. Though I know a faster machine would make a world of a difference as well.

We only have to pay $120 USD for 2700 167 MHz DDR RAM. Are you sure it's as expensive as you think up there? That sound like way too much more Canadian dollars.
